At first glance, Christian Bauhofer comes off as a quiet dude, a kind of dorky fusion in his glasses and scruffed facial hair. However, wait until the sun goes down. A once quiet and soft Christian assumes his alter-ego: Minnesota.
Currently touring around the United States, Minnesota played at the Concord Music Hall with openers Buku and Champagne Drip on March 24, 2017. Champagne Drip played a very melodic set and definitely maintained a chill vibe for his hour. Buku then brought the heat for the next hour as he played some impressive hard-hitting trap and dub sounds. At the strike of midnight, Minnesota took the stage for an hour and a half, dropping some great tunes to get the crowd wobbly. Toward the last 20 minutes of his set, he started playing some really grimey music which was a pleasant surprise!
Minnesota’s tracks have consistently appeared in sets by acclaimed artists like Bassnectar and PANTyRaid, and he has collaborated with talented artists like Lido, G Jones, Seven Lions, and The Frim. In addition, his diverse production style and pleasing DJ sets has led him to open for many prominent producers like Excision, Benny Benassi, and Flying Lotus. It seems as though Bauhofer has quite a bright future in the industry, and we can’t wait to see what he comes out with next.
