As we break into August, Burbs Music & Arts Festival near St.Louis, Missouri is on our agenda for the first weekend of the month (August 4, 2018). For a second year, DownRight Entertainment & Unknown Frequency curated this highly anticipated one-day festival; and it’s boasting a solid lineup with two stages that cater to diverse sounds of electronic and jam scenes.
The Amp Stage is home to electronic music, as performances by EOTO, Minnesota, Thriftworks, Jade Cicada, SubDocta, Mystic Grizzly, Tsuruda, LUSID, and Boss Mode are scheduled. Without a doubt, Saturday at Chesterfield Amphitheater will be a great place to experience deep bass, wobbles, and wubs. I’m particularly excited to see Jade Cicada, SubDocta, and Mystic Grizzly– these artists don’t often travel near me, are really low-key, and are incredibly talented. The Jam Stage will be a welcomed change of pace, with performances by esteemed artists like Aaron Kamm & The One Drops, The Disco Techs, Guerilla Theory, Surco, and Dr. Slappinstein scheduled for the night.
Since Burbs is a one-day event, we definitely want to make the most out of our time there. Doors open at 12pm, music starts at 1pm, and performances end at 10:30pm. Of course, an impressive array of live painters and art installations will be set up at at the festival, and there will be plenty of different options for food/drink. After the event, we’re also going to head over to the Burbs after party at Paddy O’s to get weird with Mystic Grizzly, Laika Beats, Leet, and Nightchaser featuring Chad Ka-Chow, Mark Lewis, and Alexis Tucci with AJ Halcrow on guitar. After party music goes on until about 3am and tickets are only $15!
In particular, I’m super excited to check out Laika Beats. I’ve been a huge fan of his hybrid-style bass music for a long time, but haven’t had the opportunity to see him live yet! Check out our exclusive interview with him from earlier this year here: LAIKA BEATS [INTERVIEW]
The Art of Steven Haman (assisting with visuals at the AMP Stage) and MixMedia Productions will be hosting a very special pin-drop at the festival as well! More information is provided on the Facebook post below:
