Hailing from San Diego, Abraham Laguna has established himself as a well-respected DJ and Producer under his stage name Ookay (pronounced “okay”). Laguna first began producing electronic music under the alias of Leisure in his early twenties while attending community college, and he quickly grew a fanbase for his high-energy house music style. As his sound expanded, Laguna’s career took off, and this is when he shifted his style to more trap-oriented productions under his new stage name of Ookay.
Since the start of his career, Ookay has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the electronic music scene, such as Diplo, Showtek, Marshmello, Fox Stevenson, A-Trak, Getter, and many more. In 2016, Ookay released one of my favorite tracks: “Thief,” which was a breakout hit that placed on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Songs chart and earned millions of online streams. In 2018, Laguna released his first full-length album titled Wow! Cool Album! and also published his most recent EP titled Nice!
Laguna has also released material under a different alias named Coaster. This project has allowed Laguna to demonstrate his love of tech and deep house, thus leading him to branch out and express himself through a completely different style of music. The material produced by Coaster is quite impressive, but Laguna has seen most of his success through his work with Ookay. Without a doubt, he has a tremendous amount of talent that is showcased through his constantly expanding and diverse sound.
