Photographed and Written by Joseph Sherman
A couple of weeks ago we were privileged with the opportunity to see electro-indie producer Robert DeLong kick off his national tour at Concord Music Hall. His set absolutely blew us away! Featuring an eclectic collection of MIDI devices and instruments, DeLong mixed his entire set live, and played several instruments including drums and guitar. Most notable was his use of various video-game hardware to bust out a beat or activate audio effects. I especially enjoyed his use of an N64 controller for MIDI, and a Wii-remote for effects. DeLong also brought along a laser projector that he used to trigger audio. The fact that I had no idea how this worked made it that much more mesmerizing. Check out the photos below for a glimpse into one of the most memorable sets I’ve seen in awhile!
