Tonight, don’t miss SoDown with COFRESI and Homemade Spaceship at Chop Shop on the 2019 Motive Tour! Fans of artists like Pretty Lights, GRiZ, and Big Gigantic are sure to appreciate Ehren “SoDown” Wright’s incorporation of saxophone in a unique fusion of funk and bass music, with distinct influence from other genres such as hip-hop and reggae. The Colorado native’s most recent release, The Motive EP, spans the breadth of his styles and influences. Expect an impressive performance from the producer tonight, with a fusion of DJ’ing and live saxophone that will undoubtedly get the crowd wild.
Make sure to show up early to support COFRESI and Homemade Spaceship!
The Chicago native digital percussionist, Ben Cofresi, is known for his incorporation of digital drums into his live sets. COFRESI isn’t just a great performer, but also a great mentor; his history includes visiting kids at local schools to not only introduce them to electronic music, but also to help teach production fundamentals in modern and innovative ways. We were fortunate enough to catch COFRESI all the way out at Camp Bisco last summer, and we can’t wait to see what he’s been cooking up since then.
Finally, multi-instrumentalist Rab Revere, known by his moniker Homemade Spaceship, is equally sure to impress. His fusion of genres is similar to others on the lineup, but what we feel sets him apart is his implementation of half-time into his myriad of remixes. Some of our team members had a chance to chat with him for a bit and check out his set at Sonic Bloom 2018 – we’ve heard nothing but great things about his live performances! These unique (and notoriously difficult to play) backbeats manifest in a unique groove, all but guaranteed to get the listener feeling some type of way.
The Chop Shop is one of our favorite venues in the city, and we couldn’t be more stoked for the throw-down laid out for tonight.
