I’ve been on my fair share of water crafts, ranging from a canoe to a major cruise line, but one boating experience stands out among the rest. That boat is named The Voyageur, and it was home of the 18th installment of the Brew City Boat Series hosted by the highly revered Milwaukee-based organization, Brew City Bass.

For starters, the entire idea of the event had me intrigued before I even knew I’d be on board. It sounded like the perfect summer night out: on the water with good music, good beer, and good people.

I was definitely not disappointed once on board.

The lineup of artists was diverse and provided for a great mix of entertainment for the night. To start off, we had Modd Torris who was not only a great DJ, but also brought out his guitar at times and added a live element to his set.

Local Milwaukee artist Agent Green followed with an authentic hip-hop set that got everyone up and moving. The conscious lyricism and fluid beats went well with the atmosphere. This set definitely stood on it’s own compared to the other artists, which was great! We had a chance to interview Agent Green before their performance at the Boat Series, which can be found HERE.

Exmag, the headliner of the night, gave attendees all of the smooth funk we were hoping for. I have come to be a huge fan of theirs and have always been so pleased with their live performances. They consistently bring the perfect vibe to any event, and it went especially well with the intimate setting and overall energy on board the Voyageur.

All attendees were lucky enough to get a double-dose of each of these talented artists as they all played a second set at the official afterparty at Site1A.

On top of a great variety of music, unsurprisingly, the event itself was very well put together. Upon arrival, check in was quick and painless. The rest of the night went smoothly, except for the occasional rockiness from the waves, but that was to be expected!

Brew City Bass’ own Aaron Ohlsson was a wonderful host for the event. He was very accommodating to not only myself, but all of the guests on board. He was extremely engaged with the operation of the event, but was still having a good time! Ohlsson represented the entire Brew City Bass crew well and we at The Good Music Collectiv hope to work with the team on more events in the future.

Although an amazing event that I highly recommend, the end of summer brings the end of the Boat Series for this year, so you’ll have to wait a bit to experience it for yourself. Although, you can catch many other Brew City Bass curated events all year long!

We recommend checking out their socials, as the Brew City Bass folks are always keeping things fresh by bringing out some of the best talent to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for years.
